Winehouse gets drunk, yells at band, cries after fans jeer her offstage

(Newser) – Instead of a big comeback performance yesterday, Amy Winehouse forgot lyrics and burst into tears when 3,000 concertgoers booed her offstage, the News of the World reports. At a jazz festival in St. Lucia, Winehouse showed up an hour late after boozing for six hours, yelled at her band for playing songs she didn’t know—her own—and told the crowd, “I’m just kind of bored.”

“It’s entertaining but only in the way a train crash is,” one fan said. Rain eventually disrupted the power supply, but an oblivious Winehouse continued singing, before collapsing onstage. “It’s the first time Amy has sung those songs for a long time,” a spokesman said. “They brought back all her memories of” erstwhile husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

(NEWSER) - Mitch Winehouse is writing the story of his daughter's life, with all proceeds going to the charity set up in her name, the BBC reports. In Amy, My Daughter, to be published next summer, he will "bring the many layers of her life together—the personal, the private, and the public—to create a fitting tribute to his much loved daughter," publisher HarperCollins says. The musicians—dressed in hillbilly costumes from a recent promo video—performed their song "Keep It Clean (Hot Buns)" on the back of a flatbed truck in front of the protesters and counter-protesters, Mediaite reports.
