(Newser) – Miss California has told a Christian radio program that "Satan tried to tempt me" with the gay marriage pageant question that rocketed her into controversy. "I wanted to sound politically correct" and win the Miss USA pageant, Carrie Prejean told evangelical leader James Dobson yesterday. "Then God was in my heart saying, 'Do not compromise. You need to stand up for me.'" Prejean also slammed the pressure she's been under since presenting her "personal opinion" against gay marriage.

Hey Michael, I know its early - but read the article. She never said "Satan made me do it". She said she felt "Satan tried to tempt me". And Michael, believing in God is not a crutch, its actually more difficult to live out a Godly life than a non Godly one. It was harder for her to OWN up for her own convictions as a Christian, not easier. In fact, if you think about it - Christians who speak their convictions are usually crushed for speaking out, and when they do speak out they know they will get crushed and gain nothing in return, but they do it anyway. That takes a lot of courage.

Well Reader 76617....I read it. The article says God "was in her heart" = God spoke to her....God hasn't done that since the books were written. Yes, according tio the bible Satan woulkd be responsible for her heinous acts. This makes her a sinner - just the same as you and I. However, she is "trying" to walk a Christian life. It is much more difficult than "not trying" to walk a Christian life. Trying to walk a Christian life does not make you perfect thereafter, or excuse you of your mistakes before. She is not perfect - and therefore in need of a Savior before God...Jesus. That's the gospel in a nutshell. What do you believe in?

Being a Christian does not mean a Christian is without sin, it means to try and be a better person and attempt to lead a better life. The young lady had a tough time during a divorce which led to her emotional feelings toward Gays and a little understanding on that matter might be warranted. I don't think that's necessarily true - Soren Kierkegaard, Thomas Aquinas, Michelangelo Buonarroti, they were all Christian, just as Ibn Sina was Muslim and Rabbiya was Sufi. Being religious requires just as much, if not more, mental discipline than being an agnostic - To live by a moral code that you did not choose, but believe to be the least harmful one requires mental and physical discipline - Never confuse agnosticism and atheism with irreverence, sir. While some may co-opt their religion for their own ends, it is not ours to judge them - After all, if you do not judge gay people or people who have had abortions for their lifestyle, should you not do the same for people who believe in God, which you seem to believe is 'pathetic'?

It's difficult for me to reconcile the idea that she can cleave so tightly to her moral scruples, but it's acceptable for her to show ungodly amounts of flesh, receive breast implants, and pose for topless photos. it is her religion and her choice, and ultimately she must answer to God for her life, but... godawgs, You don't make any sense. Anyone who oppose gay marriage has a superiority complex. There is absolutely no other reason to oppose it. Second, polygamy is totally different from gay marriage. Polygamy is different because it often involves non consenting parties. If all parties consent, is it the government's role to interfere? For polygamy you can make a secular argument against on the grounds of consent. For gay marriage, there is no harm to you or to the participants and gay people deserve equal protection. In addition, gay marriage bans violate the establishment clause. Comparing the two is just a straw man argument. You and Miss Cali should think about what you say before you say it. Thinker, you do not understand Chriistianity. To be a Christian you first need to accept that you are a sinner. She knows she sinned when she posed. Christians are not saying they are perfect. That is the mistake most anti-Christians make. They see Christians as hypocrits. Christains know they are sinners and when they accept God and Christ into their lives, read their Bible, and pray - the Holy Spirit begins to convict them of their sins and slowly these Christians begibn to repent and live more holy lives. But never will they be sinless.

Satan is responsible for every one of the anti God remarks posted on this site. Satan is responsible for Christians like myself being attacked for stating my beliefs. Satan is responsible for the moral misconduct of our country including Gay marriage. Yes, I have a superior position - it's God's position. Satan is responsible for the atheist, agnostic, and everyone who so boldly speaks out against God and His people. Every sin - including my own comes from Satan. I read my Bible and have studied it- clearly most people on this board have not. The Bible is accurate. I once was like all of you - an agnostic/atheist - looking for opportunities to destroy another person for claiming God existed. I used to say "The Bible is a scam and the Church is the store front to get your money". Then I decided to prove myself right. I challenged the Bible, and for the first time I was forced to read the Bible to make my point. If you truly understand the 66 books of the Bible - you can not argue that this book is innaccurate. If you study the artifacts, when the books were written, the years that seperate them, the prophecies that have come true, the consistancy (And I looked for the inconsistancies), the multitude of people who knowingly died for the faith, and so many other things there are too many to list. If any one of you whoi disagree with me would read your Bible, and then consider praying you would see the faults in your ways. Perhaps like some of you, I did not know how to pray. Then I tried it, and it works. You can not dispute hundreds of prayers in my personal life that have been answered. My experience has taught me that I was not willing to give up control in my life to "an unseen God". I would say "I have a head on my shoulders, I am not a social misfit who needs to be loved by the church. I am not giving you my hard earned money. Prove God exists and that Jesus is who you say He is" Further my experince has shown me that almost every person who is anti-God or anti-Christian has never read/studied the BIble or prayed. I don't mean knowing a few passages from your childhood, I mean READNG it a nd studying it for innaccuracies and potential truths with an open, yet argumentative mind. In addition, most people I speak to who are anti-God and anti-Christian seem to have no real peace. They panic when the stock market crashes, the swine flu comes, or their home value drops. They stand with courage attacking all other beliefs but never make a series of valid arguements to defend their belief. Usually one or two points at best. So yeah, Satan is responsible for the sin. Satan is the reason most people will rate this post negative. Satan is the reason most people will not even read this post all the way through. Satan is the reason our immoral country is heading south. But have hope, Christ will crush Satan if you let Him inm your personal life - and Christ will crush Satan and all of his followers on the last... Reply

All sin is "against natural tendencies". We are sinful human beings, we naturally sin. It is only through the supernatural presence of God that we can overcome sin. There are many great testimonies of homosexuals who speak of their former life (acting on this desire) and their new life (with the strength of God, not acting out on this desire). Look it up. God loves all of His creations - all of us sinners, homosexual or not. Gos loves the sinner - not the sin.

Bob, try living in reality. Most major religions are wrestling with accepting Gay people, for some it's never been an issue (Buddhism), for others it's very repressed (Islam) and most others are somewhere in-between. Marriage is a secular institution and confers special tax status and civil relationship rights. To be Gay and against Gay marriage is to suggest it's well and good to be a second class citizen, that way we can milk being a victim and excuse drug use, suicide and promiscuity. No thanks! I think we deserve the option of marriage, no special rights for us!
