Lost Ends Season on Mysterious Note

(Newser) Lost ended its next-to-last season last night with a blinding flash of nuclear energy and the fallout the series' fans have come to expect: more questions. Chief among them: When does the final season start? (Answer: Not until 2010.)

  • "Who is Jacob and what does he want? Why did he go around touching the Losties? Why do they get to be part of Dumbledore's—sorry, Jacob's—Army?" asks Maureen Ryan in the Chicago Tribune. "Was the crash prevented? I doubt it. Otherwise, what the heck happens in Season 6?"

  • "Whether the grand plan was really sketched out from the beginning, or made up at a later date, it's mostly going to work out as it should in the final season, and if I have to show a little patience to find out exactly what happened when Juliet made Jughead's core go kablooey, well ... I think I can handle that now," writes Alan Sepinwall of the Star-Ledger.
  • "There’s almost more here than I can wrap my head around," Noel Murray of the Onion AV Club sums up, "but I can tell already that for the next several months I’m going to be thinking about what Jacob said at the start of the episode, and how attractive his way of looking at things seems to me to be."

Confused? That's the point! IMO, one of the best TV series ever.
