Bristol Nabs HS Diploma

(Newser) – Bristol Palin graduated from high school yesterday, a feat her mother doubted could be achieved when she became pregnant, People reports. “Oh, there goes her education,” Sarah Palin recalled thinking. Bristol, though, was confident. “I knew it would be hard work,” she said, “but I knew I was going to do it.” Her 5-month-old son attended the ceremony. Her only regret? Being “point zero-zero-something” away from graduating with honors.

Palin was like millions of women seeking a college education. She was an adult, a wife and mother plus employee while she hit the books. Obama admits that he regrets the time partying, drinking and drugging (stuff off the street) while a student at Columbia. Palin started college as an adult with adult responsibilities. Obama was a kid who had no responsibilities other than his own self gratification. Who deserves our respect? Unwed teen mothers tend not to finish high school and then struggle to get their GED - a 7 and 1/2 test on 5 subjects: math, science, history, reading and writing. The pass rate is not high in many states - 60 - 70 % but Alaska had an 88% pass rate last year. If you go to the Alaska state web site you can read about it. I congratulate Bristol. Her mom had Todd to help her - Bristol can not depend on Levi. I think he wants to be a model. Poor girl.

No we shouldn't bow down. But should people be spewing all this venom? Good god, she graduated high school. Say congratulations -- or say nothing -- and move on.
