After serving as Adolph Hitler’s adoring secretary for 12 years, Christa Schroeder recounted her experiences in a 1949 memoir, Hitler in Private. With an English translation on the way, the New York Post reveals some highlights—including an account of Hitler’s doctor injecting him with hormones from bull testicles. Some notable Hitler quotes from the memoir, now titled He Was My Chief: The Memoirs of Adolph Hitler's Secretary:

  • On his opposition to meat-eating: "The human is an evil animal of prey.”
  • On the Japanese: “The Japanese are yellow-skinned and slit-eyed, but they are fighting against Britain and the United States.”
  • On dieting: "I have to eat less, I am putting on fat, I must lose it!"
  • As the Allies closed in: "Remain calm. Berlin will remain German, we just have to gain time!"
