Anti-Chemo Dad: Son, Wife Have Left US

Says family would accept low doses with alternative treatment

Share

(Newser) – The father of a Minnesota 13-year-old ordered to undergo cancer treatment says his son and wife have fled the US, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. “I have an opinion where they are, but I can’t say I know,” said Anthony Hauser, noting that wife Colleen’s disappearance was likely a “spur-of-the-moment” decision, and that he doesn’t think the pair is in Canada.

He said the family would accept low doses of chemotherapy for son Daniel alongside alternative medicine. “I know people around here who’ve had chemo twice and they’re great. And I'm not saying alternative medicine is going to cure you every time.” But he said there is no “reasoning” behind the stance of his son’s doctors.

Attorney Phil Elbert, appointed to represent Daniel Hauser, speaks to reporters outside a courthouse after a hearing at which Hauser and his mother Colleen failed to appear yesterday.

The reasoning is that while we all have the natural choice of self-suicide, only because governments haven't figured out a way to stop it, they for some reason think they own your personal body and life like it was real estate... Our lives are ours to live or die; we are free moral agents. Reply

the kid is thirteen years old, he doesn't have a brain developed enough to make those kinds of decisions.

I agree with Collusive. This is nothing more than child endangerment.

This is the problem with our Government. they believe that they should control everything about you. THIS IS WRONG! Our rights are taken away one at a time day by day... But the same group is pushing to free criminals and terrorists. Makes sense to me. Reply

So, judging by your comments, child abusers are just OK with you, the government has no business interfering with a pedophile father raping his child. The government has no business protecting these children from their parents. If they choose to neglect their children's healthcare and let them die, you can live with that right? Reply
