Rumors swirl in advance of tonight's show

(Newser) – Ahead of tonight’s much-hyped Jon & Kate Plus 8 premiere, the Internet is swirling with rumors and commentary. A few selections:

Will all the recent tabloid scandals actually help the show's ratings, wonders Maureen Ryan in the Chicago Tribune. Ryan predicts many will tune in tonight to get the story behind preview clips like Jon’s (solo) interview: “Kate and I obviously have been going through a lot of stuff.”

The media have been unfair to Kate, theorizes a former editor of Us in an interview with Good Morning America: “I actually thinks it’s atrocious that Kate is being portrayed as a monster. Like all strong women, she’s a target.”
Maybe it’s time for a new show title. The Chicago Tribune has a few suggestions, including Jon & Kate Plus Court Dates, Jon & Kate Mediate, and Jon & Kate Plus 8 Things I Hate About You.
Kate Gosselin’s sister-in-law doesn’t think anyone should tune in tonight. In a blog post this weekend, she says everything about the show is staged, Us reports.
