(Newser) – California’s gay marriage battle continued today as lawyers for the American Foundation for Equal Rights announced a lawsuit challenging Proposition 8 and called for the restitution of marriage rights while the suit is decided, the Los Angeles Times reports. The lawyers—Theodore Olson, then the solicitor general, and David Boies—were on opposing sides of Bush v. Gore in 2000. They plan to file suit on behalf of two same-sex couples denied marriage licenses because of Prop 8.

Wow, so we just don't stop. damn what the majority of the people want. The voters have spoken, multiple times in CA in fact. The only places that allow gay marriage didn't put the act to vote, they let the courts decide this piece of legislation. I don't care if gay's want to marry but if you are going to vote you can't just keep voting until you get the result you want. So if the federal judge overturns this law, will the religious people be allowed to fight that, and then CA will have another vote, and the vicious cycle will start over. If it is that important for you to be "married" since CA has domestic partnerships in state that recognizes LGBT couples have the same rights anyway then move to one of the five states that allows gay marriage and be done with it. The protests after the voters shot down gay, marriage, again is just getting out of hand. They wanted a vote and they lost.
