Silvio Berlusconi has fiercely denied having sex with a teenage girl and says he will resign if caught lying, the BBC reports. The 72-year-old Italian prime minister's alleged relationship with model Noemi Letizia, now 18, was cited by his wife as her reason for divorcing him and the issue has been seized upon by his political opponents ahead of the upcoming European Parliament elections.

"I have answered the only question that anyone has the right to ask me: 'Prime minister, have you had a, let's say, spicy, or more than spicy, relationship with an underage girl?' The response is: 'Absolutely not,'” said Berlusconi, who was photographed at events with the girl when she was 17. "I am aware that, if this were perjury, I would have to resign a minute later."
