Jon & Kate Plus ... Child Labor Investigation

(Newser) – The Pennsylvania Department of Labor is investigating Jon & Kate Plus 8 to see if the show violates child labor laws, the AP reports. TLC says it complies with all state regulations; the department would not reveal who made the complaint, saying only “any complaint we get, we investigate.” At issue is whether the Gosselin kids are actors, or whether the cameras in their home are simply documenting their lives.

The Commonwealth has FINALLY taken a pro-active stand on behalf of these precious children... maybe I won't be so embarrassed to say I'm from Pennsylvania where supposedly NO child labor acts exist. This "Truman Show" charade might be over at last! Please let these children be children.... and not a spectator sport. Reply

I totally agree. While I've enjoyed watching these kids grow up, I can only imagine the impact that the show will have on them as they grow up.

I TOTALLY agree. What a fiasco this has all become for these children. I watched this show every week until I finally got tired of Kate's vicious mouth. I understand routine, but there is not a child on this earth that is perfect and Kate will allow nothing less of her children. It is so appearant with the older twins and their behavior. with Jon gone, Kate says the twins have stepped up to help and do what she expects of them. Well duh... Kate needs a slave and now she has two. I guess that is one way to get Kate's attention.

This is not the only show about families of multiples or very large families shown on both TLC and Discovery Health. I'd have to get out my program guide to list them all for you. I started watching Jon and Kate by chance right from the beginning and it just so happened that they lived right in my neighborhood. Kate is way more talkative than Jon but that does not make him any less intelligent. I have noticed that she has always been pretty snippy with him but until now they did not make an issue of it. Reply
