Orlando Dumps LeBron, Cavs to Reach Finals

(Newser) – There will be no LeBron-Kobe matchup in this year's NBA Finals. The Orlando Magic took care of that tonight with a 103-90 thumping of LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Dwight Howard had 40 points for Orlando, which will take on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in the finals. The Magic—which swept LA in the regular season but will likely be underdogs—haven't gone this far since 1995, when they were led by a young center named Shaquille O'Neal.

NBA Reaches Deal to Return by Christmas

If tentative agreement is ratified, season will be 66 games

(NEWSER) - After locking out players for 149 days, NBA owners appear to have reached a tentative deal with them for a shortened season beginning Christmas Day, reports the AP . The two sides held another marathon 15-hour negotiation session yesterday, lasting until nearly 4am this morning. The deal is reportedly for 10 years and features a 50-50 division of revenues, although it still needs to be ratified by the players and owners, adds the New York Times . More»
