Distraught Parents Leap to Death With Son's Body

Share

(Newser) – Heartsick parents jumped to their death from cliffs in Britain with the body of their son who had died from an illness, reports the Times of London. The trio were found in East Sussex at the foot of Beachy Head, a notorious spot for suicides. The body of the couple's 5-year-old son was found in a backpack, along with a sack of toys.

A rescuer who rappelled down the cliffs opened one sack and saw what he first "thought was a doll’s head but I realized it was a small child. In the other rucksack were some toys — a tractor and teddy bears.” A Coast Guard spokesman called the tragedy "horrific and incredibly sad."

It really is -- so much so that I wish I didn't read this story. My heart goes out to their family and friends.
