(Newser) – Barack Obama will nominate yet another Republican to an administration post today, tapping New York Rep. John McHugh as Army secretary, the New York Times reports. McHugh is the ranking Republican on the House armed services committee, and serves on West Point’s Board of Visitors.

His appointment means another special election for New York, hot off the hotly-contested battle to replace Kirsten Gillibrand. Democrats think they have a shot at the seat, but Republicans should be favored in McHugh’s right-leaning district.

Given the republican's response to Obama to date, I really wish the president would ditch this practice of reaching out to the them. Given everything to date, the only time Obama should reach across the aisle should be to bitch slap any republican that gets in his way. You have your mandate from November's election Mr. President. Stop being a wuss and LEAD.

Is it painful being that cynical? Funny how your comment played right into Reader64481089's hands.
