(Newser) – An Air France flight scheduled from Buenos Aires to Paris was delayed last week because of a phoned-in bomb threat, according to Brazilian media. Authorities searched the plane for 90 minutes before allowing it to take off. Nothing was found. The delay occurred just three days before Air France flight 447 traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Paris mysteriously crashed into the Atlantic. Salvage crews are racing today to the scene where the plane's wreckage was spotted yesterday.

Perhaps it was the wrong flight to Paris searched, or maybe they should have searched all flights to Paris.

just cause it's never happened before, doesn't mean they'll go on for ever without a crash. that being said, this story does make me thing something was different, but what if it turns out to be a bomb, i'd like to know why a 90 minute long search yielded NOTHING.

I'm not the only one who thought "bomb" immediately. No Airbus had ever crashed in service before.
