Pics of tequila-swilling 20-year-old incite judge's wrath

(Newser) – A 20-year-old college student awaiting trial on reckless homicide and DUI charges learned the perils of too-candid Facebook photos yesterday, the Chicago Tribune reports. Erika Scoliere is now sporting an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after violating a court order not to drink while out on bail. “It appears the defendant is having a grand old time drinking tequila,” the judge said, rifling through the pictures.

He paused to read a caption: “Erika passed out in my bed. Ha Ha.” Scoliere’s attorney compared the bracelet to "the red 'A' that Hawthorne talked about in The Scarlet Letter," but judge Thomas Mueller wasn't having any. In light of a previous bail violation, he said, she had “earned the privilege.”

lets not forget she killed somebody once already....I think we can make room for her in one of Illinois prisons...

Illinois is broke. What do you expect? Also, the fact that she had a lawyer is enough for a lot of judges (in Illinois anyway based on my experience) to keep her out of jail depending on the situation.

it's more then just a bracelet if you'd know more about it. with that said, it's called giving benefit of the doubt, and though she broke it the first time, she's on a tight leach now. Yeah, she broke bail restrictions, but we have enough people in our jails as is thank you very much. this way she pays her own food and shelter, not the tax payers.
