HuffPo Scrubs Vid of Drunk Israelis' Obama Rants

(Newser) – The Huffington Post censored a video of young people in Israel using using racial slurs to attack President Obama, and Gawker wants to know why. Max Blumenthal, who shot the film, says a HuffPost administrator told him the clip lacked “any real news value.” Notes Blumenthal: “For the first time, the premier clearinghouse for online news and opinions had suppressed one of my posts.”

“For me it only proves that one can find drunk people willing to say just about anything,” Blumenthal quoted the HuffPost administrator as saying. Writing for Gawker, Foster Kamer observes that the HuffPost’s decision could be a “political maneuver” or an “agenda-based” move. But, he concludes, “it's probably the equivalent of some tight-assed S & P person over there who thinks they're taking the initiative with their job ... What would Ariana think?”

But there is a huge difference between drunk teenagers making stupid and racist comments and the not drunk and not teens who DO scream Death to Israel each and every week in mosques throughout the Middle East and teach their children abject hate and lies. I have no problem with this video as long as its kept in perspective. Over 80% of Israels support a two state solution. Over 70% of Palestinians think armed attacks on Israel should continue even after a settlement. Much as people want to create equvocacies, there are real and stark differences.

And no. I'm not being anti-semitic. I meant no insult to any group. I believe the world needs to respect ALL cultures, even if you don't agree. But put things in perspective.

So if I get some teenagers to get drunk and say "screw those jewish k***s", it's ok? Better yet. I'll get some drunk Muslim teens to say "death to Israel", and it'll be ok, because they are not political science majors. That's ok? Look beyond the obvious. Yes these are rowdy college kids that prolly have very little insight into politics, maybe. Where do you think these kids get THEIR opinions from? Just like Abu Grahb and Gitmo could not have been perpetrated by Lindsay England and the other scape goats, that trail lead all the way to the top. Think about what influences their 'political' rhetoric. Ah jingoism, gotta love it.
