(Newser) – George and Laura Bush aren’t interested in criticizing the new administration, Laura Bush tells ABC News, and she actually supports Sonia Sotomayor. The former first lady called Sotomayor “a very interesting and good nominee,” adding, “As a woman, I’m proud that there might be another woman on the court.” She also said that, while it was Dick Cheney’s “right as a citizen” to attack Obama, George Bush feels he “owes President Obama his silence.”

She did, however, offer a sort of defense of Bush-era terror policies, saying, “It's easy to look back and say, 'We should have done this' or 'We should have done that.' But, in fact, we are safe, and we didn’t have another attack.” Bush also said that Michelle Obama is “doing great” with her old job. “She can be such a great example, and is, for people everywhere.”

I'm glad that SOMEBODY in the Bush family has some class. As for George being "too gracious" to criticise Obama -- um, hello, reality check, he has criticised Obama a number of times publicly. Which he has a right to do, and he's certainly been classier than DICK. But they shouldn't lie about this.
