Young Brit Jailed in UAE for Alleged Fling With Boss

Dive instructor sentenced to 3 months for 'sex crime' in Sharjah

(Newser) – A young British dive instructor accused of having sex with her boss has been jailed for three months in the United Arab Emirates, the Telegraph reports. Authorities in Sharjah, the conservative emirate north of Dubai, arrested the 22-year-old woman after a raid on the dive shop where she worked. She maintains her innocence and says she has submitted to humiliating examinations to prove she had no sexual contact.

The woman's father said her mistake was to sign a confession in Arabic that she didn't understand. "They were shouting at her in Arabic," he said. "She was scared and made the mistake of bowing to pressure. She thought that was going to get her off."
