Right Rips Smith for Warning on Right-Wing Violence

Conservatives call for head of Fox anchor

Share

(Newser) – Conservatives are calling for the head of Shepard Smith after the Fox anchor suggested that the Holocaust Museum shooting backs up a Homeland Security report warning of a rise in right-wing extremism, Gawker reports. Right-wing bloggers labeled Smith a "pompous elitist" and said he should be fired, while Rush Limbaugh tore into the anchor in his radio show yesterday.

"For liberals to now claim that the atmosphere is somehow more violently anti-Obama is simply preposterous," Limbaugh spewed. Smith also drew the wrath of conservatives for saying he had received "more and more frightening" emails from "out-there" right-wing extremists in recent months, including comments on conspiracy theories and questions about President Obama's citizenship status.

Yeah. Some actual credibility on Fox. I thought it might be bs cowtowing. But he looks to be standing on solid footing. Now conservatives don't like what he's saying. What happened to Fair and Balanced?

I think this is a very basic case of - the truth hurts - The ultra right needs to reign its violent members in or they will be on the receiving end of their much beloved "Patriot Act" which they wielded with an iron fist over protesters in NYC and other places across the USA.

It's not the first time ive heard Shep make a statement that made the right cringe. Most righties would just spin it into some bullshit about lefties sending the emails while pretending to be conservatives. I realize both parties have their faults but the right will try to sell an obvious lie in a heartbeat. I just can't believe they haven't figured out that we see through the B.S. Reply
