Banksy Strikes Again— With Huge Museum Show

Share

(Newser) – Controversial artist Banksy has mounted a huge show at his hometown Bristol City Museum—but the secretive vandal is nowhere to be seem, the Times of London reports. The exhibition was planned in secret through Banksy’s representatives. “We couldn’t even tell the council and the whole thing could have been a huge hoax,” the museum’s director said. The show includes paintings and sculpture.

During the installation, the director said, “We gave the staff a couple of days off and said the museum was closed for filming so no one knew what was going on.” Banksy is best known for subversive graffiti. The director called the work “incredibly exciting,” but the museum’s head of fine art was less effusive about the spray-painter’s chops with a brush. “It’s good A-level standard. It’s fine, it’s fun.”

The world could use some color. He is amazing. I'd rather have him paint up my town instead of all the other graffiti "artists" aka (shallow college kids) I see with topics surrounding "I don't need Jesus I have a brain" or stencils of Audrey Hepburn smoking that damn cigarette (so played out). I am for originality especially with a decent message or something that at least makes one think. What he does is good for society.

I'd rather see graffiti with a message than art from another shallow starving artist. Banksy's got soul, and that's what really makes art beautiful. Reply
