David Letterman has apologized to Sarah Palin, daughters Bristol and Willow, "and everybody else who was outraged" by his joke last week about Alex Rodriguez impregnating the Alaska governor's daughter, TV Week reports. At this afternoon's taping of tonight's show, Letterman expanded on the apology he offered last week, saying. "It doesn't make any difference what my intent was, it's the perception."

"I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future," he concluded. A leader of a group that's agitating to have Letterman fired told the Los Angeles Times he wasn't satisfied with the apology. "I think it's a good first step in the right direction, but I don't think it's enough," he said.
