Mexican Cocaine Hidden in Sharks

(Newser) – The Mexican Navy seized more than a ton of cocaine packed inside the bodies of frozen sharks on a freighter off the Yucatan coast headed for America, reports the BBC. The booty was pinpointed using dogs and x-ray machines, officials said. Drug fighters warned that powerful cartels are using increasingly innovative methods to disguise operations as they dodge a military crackdown to smuggle drugs into the US.

ADDICTION is ADDICTION. What about those addicted to alcohol? How about those addicted to gambling? Your argument is one the more stale ones for keeping certain drugs illegal. And what message does Joe Camel or the Marlboro Man send? Pot is LESS ADDICTIVE than many cigarettes.

The shipment may have been delivered there by accident, according to a UN spokesman, who said he believes it was the "work of narcotics traffickers who were trying to ship something into the US and their plan must have gone wrong."
