Mexican Cocaine Hidden in Sharks

(Newser) – The Mexican Navy seized more than a ton of cocaine packed inside the bodies of frozen sharks on a freighter off the Yucatan coast headed for America, reports the BBC. The booty was pinpointed using dogs and x-ray machines, officials said. Drug fighters warned that powerful cartels are using increasingly innovative methods to disguise operations as they dodge a military crackdown to smuggle drugs into the US.

acled.com you don't seem to have much information about drug use, drug users, or the United States' present fiscal crisis. Drug users would definitely take the free drugs and then find more drugs, probably illegal drugs, to get as high as they desire or have the resources for. Marjuana users are not likely to be willing to go to a class each time before they smoke a joint, hit the bong, etc. Finally do you think that the Chinese and Japanese would be willing to continue to lend the U.S. the money that it needs to fund the various follies that we are already involved in, in addition to your proposal?

I'm sorry but drug legalization is a stupid idea. It does not address the main problem. Drug use addiction. If you provide free drugs, guess what. More people will simply start using drugs, for free. And I would argue that legalizing Mary Jane will instantly send the message to millions of people that, now that pot is legal, It's ok to smoke, right? Reply

A little research of other countries that have legalized/decriminalized marijuana might be enlightening. There is a very recent article on salon.com entitled "The success of drug decriminalization in Portugal".
