(Newser) – Sen. Barbara Boxer wagged a finger at a military officer yesterday for calling her “ma’am,” the Christian Science Monitor reports. As the general discussed New Orleans, Boxer interrupted, saying “You know, do me a favor. Could you say ’senator’ instead of ‘ma’am?’ It’s just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I’d appreciate it.”

John McCain joked about the dust-up on Hannity yesterday, the Huffington Post reports. “Thank you for calling me 'Senator' and not 'sir,’” he told the host.

Ms Manners, you may be correct regarding the preferred way to "win friends and influence people" in high society; however, in the workplace, and especially I would think when the nation's business is being conducted, the niceties are dispensed with in favor of getting the damn job done.

And one of the biggest things to dislike about the military is the way they disrespect and abuse women, even those who are members of their own organizations. So, suck on that, raht thaaaaang.
