Husband Outed Ensign Affair to Fox News

Hampton's lawyer made 'exorbitant demands': senator

Share

(Newser) – The husband of John Ensign’s mistress sent a letter detailing the affair to Fox News just days before the senator’s public admission, the Las Vegas Sun reports. A spokesman said Ensign acknowledged the affair because Doug Hampton had approached “a major television news channel.” The senator's office cranked up the dispute this afternoon, releasing a statement that reads in part: "Doug Hampton's legal counsel made exorbitant demands for cash and other financial benefits on behalf of his client."

Hampton’s letter to Fox anchor Megyn Kelly describes “heinous conduct” and claims he was fired because of the affair. Hampton says one of several “confrontations” with Ensign included the Washington elite. “One of the attendees was Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma,” he writes. Coburn’s office and all others involved declined to comment.

I could have sought the most liberal, Republican hating media to expose this story, but there are people’s lives at stake and justice is about proper process as well as outcome. Senator Ensign has no business serving in the US Senate anymore! - Doug Hampton, in a letter to Fox News

Hmmm, just the facts? Right, your talking about a husband being pissed off because his wife had an affair with a GOP Senator, but not making any negative statements about the actions of the Senator. How about jumping off the band GOP bandwagon and calling a spade a spade
