Los Angeles courthouses are no strangers to paparazzi, but today’s preliminary hearing for Chris Brown promises to be one for the record books. Brown’s case is proving more popular than those of fellow tabloid magnets Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan, with 52 media outlets requesting attendance. “I’ve never seen this kind of interest, and I’ve been here seven years,” a court spokesman tells the Los Angeles Times.

Rihanna, whom Brown allegedly assaulted, could testify, but Brown himself is unlikely to tell his side of the story. Witnesses may also take the stand. But the opportunity to hear the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth has attracted the likes of People and TMZ...and German TV and a Tokyo newspaper. No cameras will be allowed, but an overflow room will be available for extra audience members. (More Rihanna stories.)
