Jon & Kate Plus 8 is on hiatus until August, but the Jon and Kate three-ring circus must go on, with the world most recently speculating over how long the Gosselins have truly been separated. Divorce papers seem to indicate the couple has lived apart for at least 2 years, but Jon’s lawyer said it’s really only been a week or two, the New York Daily News reports.

The confusion stems from a legal technicality, TMZ adds. A source says Kate checked both boxes for a no-fault divorce—including the one requiring 2 years of living apart—to keep her options open in case Jon won’t agree the marriage is “irretrievably broken.” But at least one thing is certain: When the show returns, Jon’s girlfriend will be a part of it, a source says.
