'I'm Terribly Sorry, But David Gregory Had a Fit'

Scarborough cancels on Stephanopoulos

(Newser) – The highbrow news shows are seeing a little soap-opera drama—and a good old-fashioned hissy fit: MSNBC's Joe Scarborough had to cancel an appearance on George Stephanopoulos' This Week on ABC, reports the New York Post. "I'm terribly sorry," he told Stephanopoulos, "but David Gregory had a fit." Gregory hosts NBC's Meet the Press, and apparently objected to a corporate sibling appearing on a rival Sunday talk show.

Snarked an ABC source: "Meet the Press has lost more than half a million viewers on David Gregory's watch. That explains his tantrum, but it does not excuse it." Snarked an NBC source: "NBC News never approved an appearance by Joe on George's show. But it's flattering to know that when ABC needed a smart political analyst, they turned to us."

I kind of doubt that Joe is the smartest political analyst. He is just another talking head. It probably was just that NBC couldn't stand the idea of Joe being on a rival network and knew that David needed help. So far I haven't taken to David and watch George mostly now. Joe used to be more even handed, but since Obama came into office he seems to have gone back to the Republican roots and rant about almost everything. Mika seems like sometimes she is about ready to slap him from frustration over his logic.

Is 'snarked' a word?

Joe is a pompous butt-hole. His girl-friend died a violent death in his Pensacola office and he just resigns from his congressional office. Pensacola is a small southern redneck burg. The only class comes from the military bases located there. Joe looks like he's working off a hang-over the way he's dressed. I've stopped watching him months back and have switched to watching Robin Meade. I can even watch her with the sound off. Joe really needs to move over to Faux.
