Custody Battle Over Michael's Kids Heats Up

Share

(Newser) – Michael Jackson’s parents and Debbie Rowe, the ex-wife who’s the mother of two of Jackson’s children, are already murmuring about custody, the Sun reports. “It will be probably the start of a long battle,” the Jackson family lawyer said, adding that Michael’s mother, Katherine, wants custody. Elsewhere:

  • Rowe, mother of Michael Jr, 12, and Paris, 11, is said to be beside herself with grief, the AP adds. In a statement she called her ex “a beautiful and loving soul.”

  • Jackson pal Elizabeth Taylor "is in a state of shock," In Touch reports. "Liz was getting dressed when the second call came that Michael had died, and she collapsed," an insider said.
  • Rapper The Game has already produced a tribute track for Jackson called "Better on the Other Side," BallerStatus writes. He got help from Chris Brown, Diddy, and Usher. The song, released online today, contains lyrics like “carrying his legacy is something I must do.”
  • White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said today that President Obama told him Jackson was "a spectacular performer, a music icon," though aspects of his life were "sad and tragic," Politico reports. The press criticized the president for not issuing a formal statement.

The president was criticized for not issuing a formal statement? Bullshit. I'm willing to criticize him for addressing it at all. I don't care what my president's thoughts are on celebrity news. Reply

What a crock. Did the press ask for a formal statement on the death of David Carradine 2 weeks ago, Ed McMahons this week or for that matter Farrah Fawcetts the same day as Michael Jackson. People need a reality check. He was a great performer and he changed the music industry and usered in the music video which in turn lead us to youtube and other video sights, but let us not forget that he was merely a human being and a child molester at that. oh, and on the custody thing....get real. Neither one of those women is fit to raise those kids. 1st of all, look at how the mother raised her kids and how screwed up they all turned out. Then look at the biological mother....she sold her kids to her husband and now she wants custody..MONEY & GREED is all that is behind all this mess, but they are both going to be getting ziltch. Isn't this guy in more debt than ever and completely broke? or did he tie up some of his money under his kids name so that the tax man couldn't get to it? Like I said, it's all about MONEY & GREED. Funny how things change when money comes into play. The mother didn't want the kids before, but now she is all teary eyed for Michael dying. Must be hard looking for the $$$$ that she is hoping the kids are worth. Reply
