Minnesota Supremes: Franken Won Senate Race

(Newser) – The Minnesota Supreme Court has ruled unanimously in favor of Democrat Al Franken in the Senate election battle there, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The court decided that Republican Norm Coleman’s challenge of a lower court’s ruling did not merit reconsideration, the Pioneer Press adds. Though Coleman may bring the dispute to a federal court—or even the Supreme Court—that is not necessarily a barrier to Franken being seated.

Because of all he's done in his remarkable (and hilarious) show business career, Minnesotans know him far better than the rest of us ever know about the candidates we vote for. And a slim majority voted for him, warts and all. At least he never starred in a movie with a chimp. He's a family man who's entertained the troops in Iraq. I bet he's reelected by a wide margin 6 years from now, if he's not shot by some gun crazy militia goon.

I base my opinion on political positions he's held since he had a show on Air America Radio. He was about 50% old-fart Reader's Digest humor, and 50% centrist-to-the-core politician. He was a big Hillary supporter - that alone would tell you a lot.

Call him what you want, it's still not Coleman being seated.
