Judge Revokes Stanford Bond

Share

(AP) – A US district judge today revoked bond for Texas financier R. Allen Stanford, who's charged with swindling investors out of $7 billion. David Hittner approved a request by prosecutors to overturn a magistrate judge's decision to allow Stanford freed on $500,000 bond pending his trial. Prosecutors argued that Stanford's international ties make him a serious flight risk.

Stanford holds dual US and Antiguan citizenship, has an international network of wealthy acquaintances who would help him and possibly access to vast wealth hidden around the world. These are "flight risk indicators that are virtually unprecedented for a white collar defendant," a prosecutor said. But Dick DeGuerin, Stanford's attorney, says his client is penniless, has never tried to flee and wants to fight the charges against him.

And they are suppose to believe him because he's been so honest up to now. What a joke? Reply

This one is confusing, hell the guy attempted to turn himself in for months and the Fed's drug our ever charging him until his business were forced to close.....this case will be a strange one especially since he was working for the DEA on money laundering by drug cartels. If found guilty he needs to serve in the same cell as Madoff for just as long or longer Reply

Yea, I don't think he will like the new meaning of "facial" in prision, not the same mud packs he was use to on the outside. This one as well as Madoff will not want to be in general population, to many lifers would like nothing better than their photo in the news as being the one who placed a shiv in their heart
