Mom's ad sends flood of male callers to home of daughter's foe

(Newser) – A New York woman faces criminal charges for allegedly putting a sexually suggestive ad on Craigslist giving the name and home phone number of a 9-year-old girl who argued with her daughter, the New York Post reports. Prosecutors say dozens of men rang the child's home in response to Margery Tannenbaum's ad, which read, "I need a little affection. I'm blond, I'm cute and I'll be waiting."

Tannenbaum, a social worker, is accused of placing the ad in the website's "casual encounters" section as revenge on the girl. She has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a minor. The victim's mother said she was "horrified" by the woman's actions. "It's scary to think that someone would take any issue and attack your child," she told CNN.

Police discovered Shannan Gilbert's jeans, cell phone, shoes, and a purse with identification near the community of Oak Beach. It was the police search for the missing woman that led them last year to the discovery of a shocking body dump of 10 victims of a suspected serial killer. (NEWSER) - A 16-year-old high school student has been arrested in connection with what appears to be a plot to lure people to an Ohio town with Craigslist job ads and then kill them, police announced today. (NEWSER) - A Southwest passenger whose laptop was stolen from a checked bag got it back with a handy bit of detective work. After Ambre Boroughs discovered her laptop bag was laptop-less, she complained to the airline only to find she was out of luck, reports NBC Chicago . She then searched on Craigslist, spotted her bag for sale, and called the cops. They arrested three people at the seller's address and found a slew of other electronics swiped from Southwest bags.
