Elephants Humble Humans in Eating Contest

One light lunch for the pachyderms equals one crushing defeat for mankind

Share

(Newser) – The fastest eaters mankind could muster were no match for the competition yesterday as Coney Island held its first-ever eating competition between people and pachyderms, NY1 reports. The trio of elephants comfortably munched a combined total of 505 hot dog buns in 6 minutes, while the three humans sweated and struggled but could only down 143 buns before the clock ran out.

"We probably got about five dozen down apiece, but the elephants, you know, they're just massive," one competitor said. "In one swoop they get about one or two dozen. You know, we can't compete with that." Organizers, who held the contest as a warm-up for today's 4th of July hot dog eating contests, labeled the defeat "a setback for humanity."

What does weight have to do with speed? The current hot dog champion speed eater is a little skinny Asian beating out big, hefty Americans. Body weight has nothing to do with it. Duhhhhh Reply

but having a fucking huge mouth that holds like 50 hotdog buns at once gives the elephant a distinct and obvious edge. this is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard of. what will they do next, have humans and cheetas race? or have a long jump contest between humans and kangaroos? gee, i wonder who will win? an animal with that kind of bulk has to be able to accomodate a rapid enough intake, in order to meet caloric needs......you don't see a whale sipping krill through a soda straw mouth, a horse able to eat only a single blade of grass at one time, if that were the case basal metabolism would have to be low due to the energy expenditure needed to ingest...try a little basic zoology..the story is not referring to racial morphology you fucking moron....but human -vs- elephant...... shove a roman candle up your ass and have a happy fourth knucklefuck......and to the rest have a happy fourth of july :) Reply
