(Newser) – Details in the shooting death of NFL great Steve McNair are beginning to emerge. It now appears that McNair's 20-year-old girlfriend shot him several times before killing herself, the Tennessean reports. Both were found in McNair's rented Nashville condo, the girlfriend with a single gunshot wound to her head and a pistol nearby. McNair, 36, was married but had met the younger Sahel Kazemi at a local restaurant a few months ago, and the two began dating.

“She is the sweetest girl," her former boyfriend told the newspaper. “He was making her believe they were going to be together, and everything would be perfect.” Police say they have not ruled out other possible scenarios but are not looking for additional suspects. Former Tennessee teammate Eddie George said the death of his "great friend" left him stunned. "I am just trying to get to (his wife) Mechelle’s house to show support and take it from there."

Go let your husbands and wives cheat on you? I like to think that we don't 'let' our spouses do anything. An equal loving relationship between two adults who choose to marry is a sanctity between themselves. Trust as much as you want trust. Give as much as you would like given to you and hope that some interloper who finds their way into your relationship has enough shame to retreat because said marriage is too strong to bend.

I have no sympathy for McNair. The man had an affair on his spouse, manipulated a young unstable woman and paid the price for his actions. Never ceases to amaze me how people always remember the athlete, but never the family they leave behind because their of idiotic ways. Sympathy to the McNair family, but Steve can pound sand.
