(Newser) – The star-studded guest list for the Michael Jackson memorial service tomorrow in Los Angeles doesn't include Elizabeth Taylor, but the legendary actress is sure her dear friend would understand, People reports. "I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others," the 77-year-old tweets. "How I feel is between us."

Ex-wife Debbie Rowe will also sit out, believing "her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction," her lawyer tells Us. Expect to see performances by the surviving Jackson brothers, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, and Mariah Carey, who had a huge hit with her cover of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There," but not by guests Whitney Houston and Smokey Robinson, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Liz Taylor and Diana Ross not attending the memorial caught me by surprise since I recall Michael having considered them both close friends. I understand Liz didn't want to attend because she wanted to mourn in private and both said they didn't want to cause a stir by fans by their attending. I have some news for both of your ladies – neither one of you are that popular anymore that would have resulted in a fan fury over you. Poor Michael must be rocking and rolling in his coffin over his disappointment in neither one of you attending his memorial.
