Sanford Looked for Real Estate in Argentina

Governor kept evenings free, shopped around during state trip

(Newser) – Mark Sanford requested meetings with real estate agents during his state-funded trade mission to Argentina last year and rearranged his itinerary to ensure he had at least one free evening in Buenos Aires, according to emails obtained by the AP. The South Carolina governor has said the trip was when he first became intimate with mistress Maria Belen Chapur.

Sanford was originally going to Argentina for a privately funded bird-hunting trip in Cordoba with the state commerce secretary. He then cut the hunting short and requested business meetings be scheduled instead. After one day in Cordoba, he flew to Buenos Aires on the state's dime. A Sanford spokesman said he'd requested a business meeting in Argentina, but not in Buenos Aires specifically.

Here's the thing to me. I don't care if he has an affair. That is between him and his wife. ON the same token, we have NO idea what she was doing while he was away. "Who's making love to your old lady, while you were out making love?" The big thing to me is, DON'T get on your EXTREMELY pious high horse talking about morals and family values, and this comes up. Hey, this IS America: individuals -and corporations to an ABSURD degree- have many freedoms not available in other nations. Who one sleeps with is their business, provided everyone involved is consenting. It is the hypocrisy that makes the GOP look untrustworthy and deceptive. Now they have to dance with who brought them:Christian Evangelicals. Form the way I hear things, this is what Reagan REALLY ushered in, before then CE didn't vote, it was considered a sin. It's a good thing Republicans partnered with a strict, intolerant, often irrational and fanatical group; that ought to secure many votes for them in the future.

I predict he won't fall back in love with jenny for the same reason he originally fell out of love with her. I also predict he will quit, move to argentina, continue his affair, and email sarahpalin daily.

Yeah the Europeans were wondering what the GOP was having a cow about with Clinton also, but being on their own self rightous platform the GOP proceeded on anyway. After all they were the party that preached morals and family, of course that Newt was having a affair didn't change his vote and Ensign and Sanford were all up with the preaching about how somebody should resign. Now though Newt is one of the leaders again and Ensign and Sanford have decided that office was better than resigning when it comes to them. When the GOP stops preaching about how they are so big on family values and moralss then they will have room to admit that morals can be a downfall of anybody. It doesn't help that Sanford wanted his wife to let him continue the affair. It doesn't help that he not only left the state but also left the country for a scheduled 10 day tryst with his mistress without telling anybody where he was going except on a hike. It doesn't help that he comes back after 5 days all teary eyed about how he was so wrong and then admit later that he had crossed the line with others. If anybody needs to be wary of casting stones it would be the GOP for it do as I preach, but not as I do.
