(Newser) – As media outlets struggle to find ways to become profitable again, “the Chi-Town Daily News is way ahead of its time,” writes Foster Kamer for Gawker. A recent article ended with a message asking for reader donations to recoup the $726 it cost to run. “Yes, they note that they’re a ‘501(c)(3) public charity,'” he writes. “Non-profits: the new New Media Profit Model!”

“They could also just lease out their offices to shoot movies,” Kamer suggests. “Then again, they probably don’t have any. Cost-cutting efficiency, too!”

The traditional media sold out loooong ago in order to cash in. Now, they just want to hang on to their monopoly of news and their old methods of delivering their slant on the truth...they've lost badly on both counts.

Paper is passe...and the sooner they embrace the new media, the better...although, they best get back to real, unbiased journalism 'cause the new media has some sharp, take-no-prisoners competitors who don't have a problem reporting the actual truth.
