Palin: Scrap Cap and Trade; It's Still Drill, Baby, Drill

Share

(Newser) – President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan is actually a "cap-and-tax" plan that is an "enormous threat to our economy," Sarah Palin writes in the Washington Post. In an op-ed piece she predicts will disappoint "the chattering class," who prefer "personality-driven political gossip," she says fighting this bill will be a priority for her. We need energy policy reform, she says. "But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive!"

Instead of forcing the price of energy up and increasing our reliance on other countries with laxer environmental laws, it is better to tap into the reserves found offshore and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, writes the outgoing Alaska governor. "We are ripe for economic growth and energy independence if we responsibly tap the resources that God created right underfoot on American soil," she concludes.

Do we want to control our energy supply and its environmental impact? Or, do we want to outsource it to China, Russia and Saudi Arabia? Make no mistake: President Obama's plan will result in the latter. - Sarah Palin

There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources. But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive!
- Sarah Palin

The problem with Pain (forget the "L") is that her approach to everything is simplistic and not clearly thought out. The "Cap and Trade" plan is just that: It places a limit on the total carbon emission and let's industry negotiate how they will work within those limits. That's good for America and that's good for our people's health and future. Reply

What about China, Russia and other larger industrial nations? Burn, Baby, Burn? That's not going to help America either, just higher costs for energy while Gore flits around in his private jet making millions off his investments.
