A redeye flight from Denver to New York took a frightening turn yesterday when a passenger leaped from his seat and tried to open the rear door of a Frontier Airlines jet. Flight attendants and passengers then restrained the man by strapping him to his seat with duct tape. A source tells the Post the 35-year-old is mentally ill.

A fellow passenger told Denver's KUSA the man was acting strangely before the episode and didn't calm down even after he'd been restrained: "The whole rest of the flight, all the way in, he was yelling and trying to bite the tape." The man was hospitalized upon arrival at La Guardia. (More Frontier Airlines stories.)
