Prejean Plans Book on Miss USA Scandal

(Newser) – Former Miss California and gay-marriage opponent Carrie Prejean will pen a memoir about her time at the center of a media maelstrom, US News & World Report notes. Still Standing is due on shelves before Christmas. “The 22-year-old won the respect of millions for modeling something other than evening gowns and swimsuits—the courage of standing up for her convictions,” publisher Regnery writes in a statement.

How is she an air head? I completely disagree with her but she is entitled to have an opinion. I also respect her for being brave enough to give her honest opinion when she had to know that it was unpopular. Individuality means sometimes we are going to disagree. The right to free speech was never intended to protect the popular view point because the popular view doesn't require protection. Let's be honest, all models pose in underwear. Prejean was fired because she held an unpopular belief. One would think that people fighting for their rights would want to protect the rights of others

She was a wonderful example of the familiar crock of shit people here like to throw around called "free speech" and "not being persecuted for your beliefs." She wasn't pursued by any higher authority, but she did lose her crown because she didn't agree with a specific nationwide agenda. I completely disagree with her stance but watching her get cut to ribbons over her beliefs just knocked the media and the people who support it down so many notches in my eyes. Just goes to show you a free society is only free so long as you don't disrupt the status quo. Reply
