(Newser) – A Romanian mayor is facing calls to resign after he and his 15-year-old son appeared at a fashion show wearing Nazi uniforms and goose-stepping down the catwalk. Jewish organizations have demanded a criminal investigation, CNN reports. But the mayor had no apologies. "The swastika was very small and I didn't see it," he said. "I really liked the look of the uniform after seeing it in the Tom Cruise film Valkyrie."

Radu Mazare says he bought the uniform 'from a costume hire shop in Germany.'

very, very, very well done. such things must be forbidden and severely punished. no, im not jew just a decent person. nazism is not an 'opinion' because it is aimed at suppressing all the different opinions, so calls to freedom of speech don't apply. and that behavior is not merely an extreme example of bad taste, it is a crime.

This is a mess of stupid on both sides. Demanding a criminal investigation over clothing at a fashion show is ridiculous, and a public figure thinking it is harmless and unoffensive is also stupid. Apologize, move on.
