Post to ESPN: Vid Scandal Is Your Fault

Paper, angry at being banned by network, plays the blame game

Share

(Newser) – ESPN may have banned New York Post staffers from its airwaves after the paper printed images from the Erin Andrews nude video, but the Post shot back today, blaming ESPN itself for the video coming to light. It had gone basically unnoticed since February, but that changed when ESPN demanded its removal for a website. From there it was quick work for Andrews to be identified—and her lawyer to confirm it.

If you really want to get real, blame Erin Andrews for feeling comfortable enough in her private hotel room to walk around naked. Oh Please -- the Post has no class, no decency. It's called taking responsibility for the crap you spew. Reply

Actually, the Post has a point - it's called the Streisand effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect - "The Streisand effect is an Internet phenomenon where an attempt to censor or remove a piece of information backfires, causing the information to be widely publicized. Examples of such attempts include censoring a photograph, a number, a file, or a website (for example via a cease-and-desist letter). Instead of being suppressed, the information receives extensive publicity, often being widely mirrored across the Internet, or distributed on file-sharing networks."
