Streep: Move Oscars Before Other Awards

Late scheduling takes the punch out of iconic awards, actor says

(Newser) – Two-time Oscar winner (and 15-time nominee) Meryl Streep has a suggestion for the Academy—the ceremony should be earlier, she tells USA Today. “The Oscars should be Jan. 2,” Streep said, “before the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, the Broadcast Film Critics.” Winners are so tired of awards by the time the Oscars arrive that the “best acting all year” is their forced expressions of surprise, Streep added.

The importance of it gets undercut, and it's the Big Kahuna. Somebody told me the Oscars weren't even broadcast in the UK this year because they have BAFTAs there. That is huge.

Wow, man. You've got problems. AIM is a Pulitzer Prize Winning play which has existed long before the HBO miniseries. Open up to any page and you'll find a work of art in dialogue and character. Angels are not specific to Christianity. In fact, most of the references in the story are to more romanticized versions of angels. Three of the main characters are Mormon, another is Jewish, the rest not specific. The story is not about killing Christianity. You and the rest of the fundies are doing a fine job of that yourselves. Keep it up.

Yeah, I've got problems or maybe I'm not wearing your rose-colored glassesI am not a "fundie", but, I do believe in respecting religion and There haven't been too many hollywood movies lately showing respect to religion... none with Meryl Streep. I guess it is OK for angels to be portrayed having gay sex. and by the way, you can call me a fundie or whatever other word you would like to use to discredit a fundemental christian. It is easier to make up a catch-all phrase to lump people in to a category rather than to think about an idea on its merits. I am not a dem, not a repub, not a fundie, as a matter of fact those titles used to separate people are doing more harm than good. Maybe we should lose the titles and start talking to each other as one american to another, rather than fundie to a nutjob, or a liberal to a conservative.! Reply
