Decapitated baby's dad wants 'ultimate price'

(Newser) – Otty Sanchez, the Texas 33-year-old who confessed to stabbing, decapitating, skinning, and eating portions of her newborn son, had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and postpartum psychosis before Sunday’s slaying, the San Antonio Express-News reports. She’s been charged with capital murder, and is currently in hospital under 24-hour surveillance. The baby’s father says he wants her to “pay the ultimate price.”

“She was a sweet person and I still love her,” says Scott Buchholz, but “she needs to be put to death for what she has done.” But relatives hope authorities take Sanchez’s mental condition into account. “You can still be prosecuted if you have some form of mental illness,” said an assistant district attorney. “The test is if you understand the difference between right and wrong.”

So....the Community Mental Health Act was intended to increase care for the mentally ill. But the individual states used loopholes to dump the mentally ill on the streets without any care. Now we need to find out which party controlled the states in 1963 and we will know if it was your dear liberal fascists or the fascist conservatives.

But in the years since, so many mental health care reform attempts have been shot down by the fascist conservatives. Odd isn't it? Oh wait, it's about the money.
