Favre: I'm Staying Retired

(Newser) – No comeback this time for Brett Favre. After a long flirtation with the Minnesota Vikings, Favre has told the team that he won't be signing and will instead stick to retirement, the Pioneer Press reports. "It's the hardest decision I've ever made," Favre told ESPN. "I didn't feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable."

Favre had shoulder surgery in May, and he complained about the toll all those quarterback sacks have taken on his nearly 40-year-old body. While he didn't explicitly rule out taking another crack at the NFL someday, he left the impression that this retirement is for keeps: "I would like to thank everyone, including the Packers, Jets, and Vikings—but, most importantly, the fans."

Thank god Brett is retiring so you could explain all about yourself. Hope we aren't interrupting LOL Good move Brett. I love football because of him and was seriously hoping he would stay retired and not become a joke. I hope he comes back next year as a coach or something.

That shoulder be shot. The fact that he played at all on a surgery is wicked. That guy in New Orleans had the same surgery but way better technique. Surgeons--always go young. Internists--always go old. That bit of advice is free but I got it from the 32 year old who did my third and final shoulder surgery. And as a woman who birthed, I can honestly say that shoulder pain is the only thing that will make you scream. And to the mean person a month ago who reacted to my statement about opiates as if I were an addict--spend a minute in that shoe, bud. I spent a year with a sawed off clavicle that was basically ripping my tissues and nerves. One good surgeon and DONE. PS Mayo Clinic.
