Madoff: I Can't Believe They Didn't Catch Me

Gives first prison interview, and he's looking a little buff

Share

(Newser) – Prison life appears to be agreeing with Bernie Madoff. A lawyer who represents victims met with Madoff today and said he appears fit. "He looked pretty good and seems to be working out," said attorney Joseph Cotchett. "He looked a lot better than he has in some months since I've seen photographs of him." In the four-hour-plus interview, Madoff expressed surprise he got away with his Ponzi scheme so long, reports ABC News.

"There were several times that I met with the SEC and thought, 'They got me,'" Madoff told Cotchett, who scored the interview by threatening to sue Madoff's wife. "He cares about Ruth, but he doesn't give a ---- about his two sons, Mark and Andrew," said Cotchett. The attorney said he's unsure whether he will name Ruth or the sons in his lawsuit, but he expects to name Madoff's brother Peter as a conspirator.

He obviously wanted to speak with us because in his opinion, certain members of his family knew nothing about it, had no involvement of it. - Victims' attorney Joseph Cotchett

Either they have him at the wrong prison or the inmates are impressed. Reply

Maybe they realize he is a 72 year old man who is going to die in jail.

Now I'm the birther nut conspirator. This just yanks my full of knowledge not allowed to talk about brain to pieces. But, I don't talk about it, which is something that liberal fanatics and right wing idea hogs need to learn. Reply

I'm kind of huh-ing too. You're normally much more eloquent. Are there some implied inverted commas here, deebs? On a side note, I dunno whether I'd wanna be buff for the sisters...I'd try, if the diet allowed, to let myself go.
