Family Pleads: Don't Buy CDs

Posted Aug 28, 07 12:41 PM CDT in World Gossip Arts & Living    Editor's Choice

(Newser) – The continuing drama surrounding "Rehab" singer Amy Winehouse took a bizarre new turn this morning when her in-laws, in an plea broadcast on the BBC, begged fans not to buy her records. Her husband's parents called for a boycott to force the couple into rehab, the Guardian reports. "One of them, if not both of them, eventually will die," they said.

Winehouse's own father agreed his daughter's life is in danger but thought a boycott would do more harm than good. The treatment-averse singer spent five days in rehab and cancelled her American tour after being rushed to the hospital two weeks ago. Pictures of her and husband Blake Fielder-Civil leaving a hotel covered with cuts and bruises were subsequently splashed across British tabloids.
