Green Sex: Healthier, Apocalypse-Proof

(Newser) – A green approach to sex, sexual aids, and protection is not only environmentally conscious but also healthy and prescient, the New York Post reports. “It’s really good to know you can power something up with your own body!” says the purveyor of a hand-cranked sex-toy. “It really is sort of post-apocalyptic: When you really can’t plug anything in, at least you’ll still have your vibrator.”

The greening of the industry won’t just warm your nuclear-winter nights—it can also help with your health right now. “A lot of these products will say, ‘Not intended for actual use,’” says a retailer of green sex toys. “The reason being, these are toxic.” A “video producer” concurs, but thinks bad practices can be turned towards the better good. “Sex toys are a great entry point for understanding environmental issues.”

there's not an angle that *capitalists* wont exploit, eco or not. capitalism is about money and if one sees money to be made, one will make it. "eco capitalists" just found a way to make money while being less harmful to the enviroment. what's wrong with that? are they supposed to do it just out of the goodness of their heart and not charge anything? i mean, really? what is it you expect? if someone will pay more for an eco-friendly item, why shouldnt the eco-business charge what the market will bear? it's capitalism at it finest, really. let me ask you a question? do you believe that the earth's climate is shifting? and if not, how do you explain the proven weather shifts, ice cap melting, and increase in violent weather, like tsunamis? and if you do believe it is shifting, do you simply think man is not responsible? i mean to me, that's like watching the house burning and deny that it is because you didnt set it on fire. the house is burning...maybe you can stop the fire, maybe you cant, but shouldnt you try? good question there armywife....I do feel there is a climate shift, and plenty of theories abound as to why.... ....1. Man made global warming 2. geomagnetic shift 3. sunspot activity 4. a long cyclical climate fluctuation (on the order of centuries to hundreds of centuries) 5. solar output fluctuations 6. axis tilt change of the planet 7 a theorised "flipping" of the magnetic poles themselves and there are even more, but those tend to get a little "out there"..and more subject to sci-fi classification.....OR it could be a combination of all those factors, or even a few we don't know about....we just don't have enough basis for a definative conclusion...now from a political standpoint...the facts never made much difference...it's who is the loudest or most theatrical at the time....but even a regular person can see...pollution is bad...green renewable envirofreindly energy is the way to go...it's just getting there is the problem. It's all about the money..on any side of the fence you stand on

wife: Do some research and you will find that Al Gore founded a couple of "investment" companies BEFORE he put out his book and movie stating that "the sky is falling". These investment companies will be trading in carbon credits and Gore stands to become the new Bill Gates through this scheme. This is not a "wing-nut" delusion, it is totally verifiable. Many climatologists and scientists chock the current trend up to cyclical change. It is their contention and that of many others that this current global warming scare is faulty science, or worse, a concerted and calculated effort to control opinion and then herd the masses into surrendering their sovereignty and wealth to those traders like Gore who are perpetrating this fraud. Gore's motives are anything but selfless. FYI: This same group was actually predicting a global ice age right before they shifted (along with the natural climate change) and began sounding the alarm for global warming. Search this out, then come comment, okay? Reply
