Nigerian Rebel Leader Dies in Police Custody

(Newser) – The leader of an uprising set on introducing Islamic law in Nigeria died in custody today, the BBC reports. Mohammed Yusuf was captured in his in-laws’ goat pen in Maiduguri—and was later seen standing and with no visible injuries by a Reuters reporter. “He has been killed,” a police spokesman said. “You can come and see his body at the state police command headquarters.”

Yeah, it is an example of the way a culture conflict can be used to cover over geopolitical ambitions. The guys in the Niger Delta who have had their health, homes and land ruined by Shell, BP and the rest get no recourse from the corrupt oligarchs we suck up to for their oil. Result? They turn to the extremists and we wonder why. It becomes a strategic concern only if you reckon that foreign policy needs to be set up to keep Joe Ordinary in cheap energy. Time to escape the oil economy and give them all the finger.

This is what happens when radical Islam runs into a people who will not only NOT bow down to intimidation but, will react to it with an extreme counter-attack showing the same mercy Islam has for infidels. Reply
