(Newser) – A contestant on the British edition of Big Brother slit his wrists after he was voted off the show, reports the Guardian. Sree Dasari, still being treated in the hospital, was an unpopular character; he faced mockery after flirting with another housemate who wasn't attracted to him, and when he left the house he was booed. The incident has reignited debate over the mental health of reality show participants; other seasons of Big Brother have featured a Tourette's sufferer and a man who threatened to kill himself on air.

Sree Dasari poses for photographs as he is evicted from the Big Brother House on July 3, 2009. He later slashed his wrists after seeing the program.

I often said you can make ANYTHING a reality show:simply stick the name of the act between words like "ultimate" and "challenge" or "extreme" and "face-off" (Ultimate Dishwashing Challenge, Extreme Nail Clipping Face-off, etc.), make sure people get voted on or off every week to ensure conflict, serve at room temperature.

It is the people who have no real sense of accomplishment in their own lives. Watching others at their lowest helps others feel good. The term used to be "get a life".
