Blue language in linked video derails Pawlenty criticism

(Newser) – Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party is frantically apologizing after sending out a mass email that linked to a profane YouTube video, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The email, which blasted Gov. Tim Pawlenty over his economic record, was supposed to include a link to a development report. Instead, it linked to a video entitled “Chinese Grandma Learns English”—in which an elderly Chinese woman unwittingly repeats English-language obscenities.

The DFL quickly realized its error and sent out a corrected version asking to “recall” the original—a futile request in the Internet age. "The previous version of this release contained an incorrect and inappropriate link,” the follow-up email said. “We did not check the links before the release was sent. We apologize for this error."

There's as many racist demos, they just delude themselves into thinking otherwise. At least republicans want to talk about the reality that racism exists on both sides of the aisle and that blacks, Mexes and and like are more likely to display over racism--such as evidenced by their violence towards whites (which never gets called "hate crimes" although they plainly are).

Hello? HELLO?" my brother repeats & upon getting no response, finally says, "Well, if you'd get the shit out of your mouth, maybe you could talk." He slammed the phone down as I laugh at him & it rang again immediately. He picked it up again & his face started going purple. He told me what he heard on the second call. And the right doesn't godawgs? I seem to remember that it was the Republicans who impeached Clinton for his affair. Yet the Republicans didn't try to impeach Bush over all of his failed policies. And yes, I realize Clinton was impeached for lying about said affair, yet the Bush administration has been even more deceptive and secretive. So which is worse, then; sticking your dick where it doesn't belong, or invading a sovereign nation, letting said nation collapse, rack up record spending deficits, start secret and illegal spy programs, cherry pick bad information to present to the international community, authorize torture, treat innocent people like terrorists and send under-equipped troops to fight a war? And Jayster, what imaginary world are you referring to? Here in Phoenix where I live, Hispanics live in fear of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has 26 different entries in the Controversies and Criticism section of his Wikipedia article. 26! And he's the sheriff of the county of one of the largest metropolitans in America. And that doesn't include the criticism he's faced over his iron fisted approach to immigration. And search on Google, I'm sure you can find hundreds of examples of racism in this country in just the last year. Reply

does anyone actually know anything about the democratic farmer- labor party, or whatever it was called? i've never heard of it. we're all assuming that because they have "democratic" in their party title, that they are liberals. they might not be, they might be some sort of third party option. after all, north korea calls itself the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, so names dont always reflect truth in advertising, so to speak. Minnesota has always has a strong third party tradition, but the DFL is the local Democratic party. Condensed from Wikipedia: "The Farmer-Labor Party was a political party founded in 1918, which eventually merged with the Minnesota Democratic Party in 1944. The party had a good deal of success in Minnesota as a statewide third party, with three governors, four U.S. senators and eight Representatives serving during the 1920s and 1930s. The party platform called for protection for farmers and labor union members, government ownership of some industries, and social security laws." The party doesn't dare drop 'Farmer Labor' from it's name for fear of the growth of another strong progressive third party springing up in the state.

Somebody screwed up badly. The party blames an outside researcher. I would say that it was a mistake given the timing, the retraction came minutes after the mistake, not days later because it was attracting media attention. I think the closest equivalent is local Republican party members forwarding racist jokes, which they do not retract until outsiders pressure them to. Reply
